Larissa is the Exec. Director of The Pejepscot Historical Society and is bringing the quilt to the library. Created by multiple West Harpswell Families in 1861. The “friendship” quilt is a masterpiece of genealogy and coded messages.

OWLS OF MAINE  – CHEWONKI PROGRAM

Learn habitats and adaptations of these fascinating birds.  Presented by the Chewonki Foundation.  Suitable for children ages 5 and older.  Program is FREE and lasts about an hour.

An introduction to birds and mammals.  Presented by the Chewonki Foundation.  Suitable for children ages 5 and older.  Program is FREE and lasts about an hour.

SATURDAY, JULY 21 AT 1:45 PM
THIRD ANNUAL BOWDOIN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL COMMUNITY CONCERT AT THE ORR’S ISLAND UNION CHURCH

FREE COMMUNITY CONCERT by students from the BOWDOIN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL at the Orr’s Island Union Church (on Rte. 24, Harpswell Island Road, next to the Orr’s Island Cemetery).  The Orr’s Library is hosting these musicians for our third year.  This free concerts offers an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of music in an historic venue.  As part of the Community Concert series, these musicians engage with audiences and widen their reach and identify entrepreneurial ways to interact and grow through music.  The concert will be followed by a reception with refreshments and an opportunity to visit with the musicians.

This illustrated lecture will explore how Pearl-based tourism helped a small Maine fishing village reinvent itself for a new summer economy.

Let’s Talk and Taste Coffee
Bob, Orr’s Island resident and the owner of Wicked Joe Organic Coffee will talk about his
Mission to source exceptional coffee from around the world, guarantee sustainable wages for the farmers who grow our wonderful beans, and roast epic coffee for each and every customer. This will be the 4th December tasting of our 1st Thursday Programs.
