ART FROM TOOTHPICKS

Great Island artist, John Mishler will talk about and show his work as a Pointillism artist.  His work is made using toothpicks and ink.

FREE PAPER SHREDDING

Bring your sensitive documents to be shredded on site.  No limits.  Bake sale too!

SATURDAY, JULY 20 AT 2 PM
BOWDOIN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL COMMUNITY CONCERT at the BAILEY ISLAND COMMUNITY CHURCH.   

FREE COMMUNITY CONCERT by students from the BOWDOIN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL at the Bailey Island Community Church ((on Rte. 24), 2141 Harpswell Islands Rd. Bailey Island). The Orr’s Island Library is hosting these musicians for our fourth year. This free concerts offers an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of music in an historic venue. As part of the Community Concert series, these musicians engage with audiences and widen their reach and identify entrepreneurial ways to interact and grow through music. The concert will be followed by a reception with refreshments and an opportunity to visit with the musicians.  Introduction at 1:45 PM.

AUGUST 2019

HARPSWELL HISTORY COMES ALIVE 

Local historian and fact filled genealogist, Gerry York, will talk aobut local island history.  Nobody knows it better!

AUGUST 7-10, 10 AM-2 PM each day
ORR’S ISLAND LIBRARY ANNUAL BOOK SALE & FAIR
.  See you at Sylvester Field at Lowell’s Cove for our annual book sale, 10AM- 2 PM each day. This is an OIL major fundraiser and great fun.  Books, DVDs, CDs, Puzzles, White Elephant, lunch, bake sale, raffle, activities for kids.  FAIR events on AUGUST 7 only.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7 beginning at 10 AM we have a bake sale and later in the day we have a hot lunch for sale.

KIDS’ ACTIVITIES at the ANNUAL BOOK SALE & FAIR on AUGUST 7, 10AM -2PM

LONGEST YARD SALE ANNOUNCED

Rent a table and sell or come and buy some incredible “finds”.  Bake sale too!  Table reservations needed.  Call library for details.

SEPTEMBER 2019

THE HARPSWELL WATERFRONT

Kelli is documenting people who live and work on Harpwell’s waterfront throuh photos and their stories.  Her book, Working Waterfront will be available for sale.

OCTOBER 2019

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3 AT 7 PM
FIRST THURSDAY PROGRAM – ED POLEWARCZK
THE SPACE SHUTTLE PROGRAM
A 34 year veteran of the Space Shuttle Program, Ed will talk abut astraunaut experiences, Mission Control and “Go For Launch”.

NOVEMBER 2019

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 7 AT 7 PM
FIRST THURSDAY PROGRAM – PAM WHITE
STORIES FROM THE US STATE DEPARTMENT

Former Ambassador, Pam White, will reveal her funniest and scariest stories from Camaroon, Mali, Tanzania, Liberia, The Gambia, and Haiti.  She will also discuss her view on the state of the State Department.

DECEMBER 2019

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 5 AT 7 PM
FIRST THURSDAY PROGRAM – MELINDA RICHTER
LET’S MAKE AND EAT TRUFFLES

The 5th edition of our “Let’s Taste in December” series, Melinda, the owner of the Island Candy Company, will help us make hand made truffles.
